Medvedev's former coach Jean-Rene Lisnard is certain that Medvedev is the best player after Nadal and Djokovic.
The Russian has not had a prolific year in 2022 but he still did really well having some of the best results on Tour this year. His former coach is impressed that Nadal and Djokovic are still able to outperform some of these younger guys including Medvedev:
"Let's not forget who he lost these matches to - Djokovic, Nadal. These guys are just stronger. Even at 35-36 years old, they are able to be at the top of tennis. Daniil is the strongest after them, since he is the most stable of the next generation."
Many consider Medvedev the best out of the rest but Alcaraz has certainly had the most impressive year out of all of them. Expanding further on Medvedev, Lisnard noted that the Russian might have never won a grand slam had he arrived earlier:
"In my opinion, if Medvedev had fallen into the generation of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic, then perhaps he would have had zero Slams in his career. The three of them and Andy Murray were head and shoulders above all."
