It was the first trophy for Medvedev in the year but not the first final. His first one came much earlier this year in Australia when he played in the Australian Open final. He played a couple of more later on but lost two of his latest in Halle and Den Bosch. Now, back on his prefered hard courts, Medvedev dominated an entire week in Mexico to lift the trophy.
The first set was an up and down affair where Medvedev was up a break twice however Norrie battled back each time. The Russian was serving for the match at 5-4 but dropped serve only to rally and close it out 7-5. The 2nd set was Medvedev fully unleashed as he thrashed Norrie 6-0 to lift the trophy.
