David Goffin came well-prepared for the 2021 season as he lost his last 5 matches in 2020.
But it didn't look very well for the Belgian in the first two sets of his first-round match against Pierre-Hugues Herbert at the Antalya Open. The Frenchman won the first set 6-3 and was serving for the match in the second set when he led already 5-4.
In that game, he also had 5 match points, before Goffin got to a break points which he converted to stay in the match. From that moment, it was a one-man show in Turkey. Goffin won all of the 9 last games to eventually win the match 3-6. 7-5, 6-0.
Alexander Bublik and Emil Ruusuvuori also advanced to the second round at the Antalya Open and Nikoloz Basilashvili, similarly to Goffin also broke his losing streak from the end of the 2020 season.
