Second-seeded Karen Khachanov, two wild-cards from Russia and other players fought for the seat in the quarterfinals during the Wednesday at the Kremlin Cup.
Wednesday brough a lot of action on the courts in Russia. Out of 6 played matches during the 3rd day of play, 4 of them were decided in the 3rd set.
Adrian Mannarino and Egor Gerasimov got their comfortable wins in the 2 sets but other players had to fight for their spot in the next round. This included also the match between the 2 players from Russia that received a wild-card.
Kachmazov and Avidzba fought for the next round, where they meet lucky loser after the withdrawal of the first-seeded Daniil Medvedev.
After Medvedev withdrew from the tournament, Karen Khachanov is the biggest star for the home crowd. In the round of 16 he turned the match against Kohlschreiber to reach the quarterfinals in his home country where he will be facing Andreas Seppi.
