Defending champion Fritz smashes Baez in Indian Wells

Defending champion Taylor Fritz proved in pretty good shape by smashing Sebastian Baez in straight sets 6-1 6-2 to advance to the next round.

This result didn't surprise anyone because it was always going to be a tough matchup for Baez. The American simply has too much of a heavy game for Baez to counter, especially on a hard court where the American would have time to properly unload. Their only clash before this one happened last year in Cincinnati and that too was a crushing win for Fritz.

This one was 6-1 in the first set behind two aces and 11 winners. Fritz risked a lot in this matchup probably as he knew that he was going to win regardless. He added two more aces and 8 more winners in the 6-2 second-set effort. Overall a 71-minute effort for Fritz who allowed Baez to win only one of his service game. It was the second-to-last game of the match.
