Serbia’s tennis star
Novak Djokovic is often regarded as the
greatest player in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category. He has
won 24 Grand Slam titles in his illustrious career, most by any player in the
singles category.
Despite achieving pretty much everything on the court, the
36-year-old can still add as many as 13 accolades before calling it off.
The first in the list features winning eighth Wimbledon
title. Only Switzerland’s
Roger Federer has won eight major titles in London.
Another achievement that Djokovic can unlock is improve his
standings in terms of most ATP titles. Currently, he is third in the list with 98
titles, only behind Jimmy Connors (109) and Federer (103).
The Belgrade-born can also join the list of most US Open
titles. He has won it four times. Only Pete Sampras and Roger Federer have won
more with five each.
Djokovic can also become the oldest player to win a Grand
Slam if he wins the US Open this year. Currently, Ken Rosewall holds that
record as he won the Australian Open at the age of 37 years, 1 month and 24
days.
The Serbian tennis star can also become the oldest player to
become the world number one in ATP ranking. Currently, Federer holds that
record as he topped the charts at the age of 36 years and 320 days.
Djokovic can also become the player with the most wins in the
Grand Slams. Currently, he has won 366 matches in the major event, just three
behind Federer who has won most matches in the major events.
Another record Djokovic can complete this year is to become
the player with the most appearances in the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam. He
equalled the record of Federer of 58 quarterfinal appearances in the mega-event.
Some other achievements that can be unlocked by Djokovic are
winning most Indian Wells titles, most Miami Open titles, most Grand Slam tournament
appearances, Grand Slam matches and most wins in the Open era matches.
