The legendary former Uruguayan footballer Diego Forlán, who was a star in his country's national team and triumphed in teams like Manchester United, Villarreal or Atlético de Madrid, is going to switch to tennis at the age of 45.
The Uruguayan football legend has been invited to play the Montevideo Challenger alongside Federico Coria, so he will make his professional tennis debut at the age of 45;
Forlan has already played in ITF tournaments for the over-30 age group and is ranked 744th in the world in the over-40 category and 108th in the over-45 category. In 2024, he has played a total of eight matches on clay with a record of eight wins and three losses.
Coria is better known lately for what he does away from the courts with his YouTube channel than for his sporting performance. The Argentine is currently the 101st ranked tennis player in the world. The Montevideo Challenger will take place between November 11 and 17.
