Diego Schwartzman defeated Jaume Munar in the Argentina Open quarterfinals coming closer to a title in his home town.
It was a spectacular display from Schwartzman who defeated the Spaniard in straight sets to reach the Argentina Open semifinal. He is now only two wins away from winning a title in Buenos Aires, his hometown. He reached the semifinal two times before but each time he failed to win the trophy. Speaking on this whole week he said:
"It's special. It's an emotional week for me. Obviously, it's a different week. I'm always trying to win, but here I'm always trying to enjoy every single point and I'm really, really happy. One more time I can be in the semi-finals... I hope to be ready tomorrow."
Despite the straight set victory, the match was not easy and Schwartzman was aware of that heading into the match. In the 2nd set Munar played very good tennis but ultimately several untimely errors sealed his fate. About that ending Diego said;
"At the end, I was just smiling with his coach because it was a difficult end. I couldn't win the point at the end because he was always coming with another ball, another lob, another slice, another passing shot. I think in the end he hit a double fault and made a mistake on a volley. He didn't deserve that finish because he was playing very good and always trying to keep pushing."
Schwartzman will face Miomir Kecmanov in the semifinal but he did not offer any comment on that match. Don't miss anything from the Argentina Open by clicking here.
