Diego Schwartzman has revealed he’d ideally want to retire on his peak not wanting to limp out on an injury or after dropping down the rankings.
The 29-year-old is still going strong as he’s currently ranked as the
world No 15, he made it to the final of the Argentina Open earlier in
the year, reached the quarter-final at the Monte Carlo Masters and most
recently he got to the semi-finals at the Barcelona Open. Even though he’s not in the mood for retirement yet, he’s still making plans for when that day rolls around. He said:
"How I’ve been doing it, hopefully, I can continue playing like this
until I retire, hopefully, I can retire playing at a high level and
competing, that was always my dream. That
the day I have to finish, whenever it is, that there is no big decline
in my level, that I don’t have to retire because of that or because of
an injury."
He finished off with:
“I’ve already accomplished many, I don’t know if I should ask for more – the only thing is keep everything I’ve been doing and enjoy everything I’ve achieved.”
