Serbia earned the first point at the ATP Cup after surviving an ace-nightmare from South Africa and winning both singles matches.
Dusan Lajovic kicked-off the afternoon session in Brisbane against George Harris. Lajovic lost the first set 3-6 but managed to come back in the second and third when he won after 2 hours and 17 minutes 3-6, 7-6 and 6-3. Harris scored 15 aces during the match, but that was not enough to win it.
In the second match, world number 2 Novak Djokovic faced former world number 5 Kevin Anderson. The player from South Africa was
injured during the end of the 2019 season and he did not play any matches.
In the match against Djokovic, Anderson scored 17 aces, but again that was not enough. Djokovic won in 2 tie-breaks securing the second point for Serbia in a tie against South Africa and the first point in Group A at the ATP Cup.
