Serbia’s tennis star and the current world number two Novak
Djokovic has confirmed that he will return to Davis Cup action this year.
The 36-year-old is on his way to making history as he
is now just one win away from winning his 24th Grand Slam title in
London.
Djokovic was quoted in a report where he stated that he is
eager to return to Davis Cup this year.
“Yes, I will play this year and I am looking forward to it,”
he said. “Last year, I was really hoping to join the guys for the finals
tournament, but unfortunately they didn’t make it out of the group. It was a
very tough group, though.”
Djokovic, who is the most successful player in the history of
men’s singles tennis after winning 23 Grand Slam titles in the Open era, is set
to face world number one Carlos Alcaraz in the final of
Wimbledon 2023.
A victory for Djokovic on Sunday will equal Swiss tennis
star and former world number one Roger Federer’s record of eight Wimbledon
titles in the men’s singles category.
In the Davis Cup, the
Belgrade-born has a decent record where he helped Serbia in clinching the title
back in 2010 after beating the French team with a score of 3-2
