Novak Djokovic stepped onto the red clay of
Roland Garros on Saturday evening and he did what he usually does and that is win with ease.
The final match of the ATP part of the schedule at the Roland Garros on Saturday was between Novak Djokovic and Daniel Galan Riveros. The Colombian enjoyed a solid run at the Roland Garros despite not entering it in the greatest of form. He didn't start off this match well as well. Novak Djokovic came out focused as ever and he was ready for anything Riveros tried to throw at him. It took the Serbian only 26 minutes to wrap up the opening set with 6-0.
He was extremely aggressive going for winners instead of playing his meticulous style of play he usually employs. While it worked in the 2nd set as well since he won it 6-3 it wasn't as nearly as easy as the first one. Riveros played much better and Djokovic missed more than he hit as he had 17 unforced errors with only 15 winners.
The final set was when things to back in order for Djokovic as he stopped playing the hyper-aggressive style which resulted in fewer winners but also in way fewer errors. None of that mattered much as Novak broke Riveros early in the final set to take a 2-0 lead which he maintained towards the end of the match. The final result was 6-0 6-3 6-2. It was a valiant effort from Riveros but ultimately he could not defeat the best player in the world who is having a spectacular year and is playing with a lot of confidence. He did have several stunning plays such as the one you can see below.
