Novak Djokovic played the first ATP night match at Roland Garros and routinely overcame Sandgren 6-2 6-4 6-2.
It was a routine match for Novak Djokovic who moved on to the next round of the Roland Garros defeating Sandgren in straight sets. The reigning world number started off the match better than usual as he broke Sandgren and never looked back.
Djokovic used to have a notorious reputation of entering matches slow but recently that trend had shifted and Djokovic usually comes in fairly focused. After taking the initial break he simply extended the lead taking the set 6-2.
The 2nd set featured quite a battle despite Djokovic once again took the 2-0 lead. Sandgren had six break points in total in the 2nd set but he could not convert either of them. Djokovic ultimately won the set with 6-4.
The final set featured another drop off in level by Sandgren who slowly came to terms with his inevitable defeat and both players played out the match on autopilot. Djokovic won the final set with 6-2 and that was that.
