Novak Djokovic ended the year as the best-ranked tennis player in the world for the sixth time in his career and now he received his trophy for it.
It's been a good year for Djokovic albeit not a great one. When he won the Australian Open it seemed like this would become yet another dominant year for him but the global pandemic cut the season short. When play returned he was struck by misfortune at the US Open and at the Roland Garros he got smashes by Nadal. Despite all of that he ended the year as the best-ranked player which was extremely important to him.
“I’m very happy. It’s been a strange year for all of us with a six months’ gap for all of us. We restarted the season in August, and I continued where I left off before lockdown and had a terrific run. I’m very pleased with the way things went."
He continued:
“I have to say a huge thank you to my team for supporting me in a hard time and trusting me. This is the crown for all achievements in the year and it’s unreal that I’ve managed to finish the year at No. 1 for the sixth time.
