By winning his quarter-final match over Hubert Hurkacz, Djokovic extended his most recent winning streak to 20 matches which is the 10th such streak in his career.
He's had 20 or more match-winning streaks ten different times in his career which is another record. He just recently set a new record for most weeks ranked as number one in the world in tennis history. This one is him becoming the first player in the Open Era to have 10 20+ match-winning streaks.
No player before him did that and it comes due to his ATP finals run last year where he went 5-0 and this year's incredible start as he's 15-0 so far. If he defeats Medvedev today he'll make it 21 in a row and 16-0 this year alone. Asked about playing Medvedev, Djokovic said:
"We played each other quite a few times. If I get to face him, obviously I know what to expect. I've been watching him play. He's on the roll, winning tournaments, one or more tournaments before Dubai, I'm not sure. But he's had a great run. I haven't had a bad run myself, so I think we're both in great form and hopefully can have a good match."
