After Diego Schwartzman outplayed 12-time Roland Garros champion, Rafael Nadal, the first-seeded Novak Djokovic became the biggest favorite to win the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome. However, he first needed to play against Casper Ruud in order to be able to reach the final.

The young Norwegian had a very good start to the match. He converted the only break point he had in the third game and got a quick lead in the match. He didn't lose that then and won the match 7-5, 6-3 to book the spot in the final of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome. His final opponent will be Denis Shapovalov or Diego Schwartzman.
