Novak Djokovic's and Carlos Alcaraz's match at the Roland Garros recently was the most watched tennis match on the Tennis Channel this year and the second-most watched since last year.
The Tennis Channel has been the home of the Roland Garros for a few years now so they broadcast this year's event as well. The most interesting match to most people was the Alcaraz and Djokovic match and that's been the case ever since the draw came out and we saw that it could be a possibility.
There was a lot of hype around it as it was their first match since the Madrid one last year and just like that one, it was a pretty good one. Pretty good until it wasn't which happened at the start of the 3rd set when Alcaraz started cramping. From there it was a rather simple journey for Djokovic to close out the match as Alcaraz simply struggled to move properly. The Spaniard tried his best and didn't want to retire which is admirable all things considered.
As the flagship broadcaster of the event, the Tennis Channel showed all of the matches including the final but no match came close in terms of viewership as the Djokovic and Alcaraz match. It makes sense as it's they are the best players in the world right now and this match probably directly decided the winner of the grand slams.
It pulled 530,000 people which is the most this year and the most at Roland Garros this year. The final didn't pull as many people and it's actually the second-most-watched match ever on the tennis channel trailing only the Djokovic - Nadal match from last year's Roland Garros. That match managed to pull 666,000 people which is quite impressive. Let's see how long that lasts.
