Former world number 7 Barbara Schett believes
Novak Djokovic will keep on winning and go down as the greatest tennis player of all time.
Novak Djokovic currently has 20 grand slam wins which is tied for the most ever with Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. He also has a chance to surpass at the upcoming
US Open which will start tomorrow. Winning the US Open would be significant achievement not only because it would put him at 21 wins overall but also because he would complete the calendar grand slam which neither Federer nor Nadal ever could.
Former WTA world number 7 Barbara Schett spoke about Djokovic recently and had this to say:
“I think he will finish as the best in history. Whether you like him or not, it doesn’t matter. If he wins this tournament, he will be the one with the most Grand Slams. I don’t think Federer will win another one. We would be content to see him play again and with Rafa, things are not getting easy either."
Schett also speculated that even if Djokovic does not win the US Open right now he will certainly win more grand slams in the future simply because of his immaculate fitness:
“I don’t think Medvedev, Tsitsipas and the rest will win 21 Grand Slams. Djokovic looks like he is 27 or 28 years old. He is very fit and takes very good care of his body. Even if he doesn’t win the title in New York, he will keep winning more. He knows how important the next few years are for that."
