After spending 14 days in quarantine in Adelaide on the condition that he would compete at A Day at the Drive exhibition event, World No.1 Novak Djokovic announced his withdrawal from his scheduled match.

The Serbian had arrived in Adelaide two weeks ago, along with Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams and other stars scheduled to participate at the event. These players were given preferential treatment in that they were allowed to practice in private houses with tennis courts, unlike the rest of the Australian Open field who are currently quarantined in hotels in Melbourne.

However, just before his match, the defending champion announced that he would not be able to compete at the A Day at the Drive exhibition. He was scheduled to face rising Italian Jannik Sinner, but withdrew citing blisters on his right hand.

The 17-time Grand Slam champion is being replaced by compatriot Filip Krajinovic, who will attempt to pacify the disappointed crowd as he takes on the energetic Sinner.
