Peak Dominic Thiem was a fabulous tennis player with the Austrian facing both Nadal in the Roland Garros final and Djokovic in the Australian Open final.
Nadal is 13-0 in Roland Garros finals, while Djokovic is 9-0 in Melbourne finals, a combined 22-0 record described as “the greatest duopoly in men’s tennis.” Both players don't have a strong record outside of their favourite events with Nadal posting an 8-8 record in Major finals outside of Paris and Djokovic an 11-11 record outside of Melbourne.
In three of those 22 finals that they won, the opponent was Dominic Thiem as he faced Nadal in Paris in 2018 and 2019 and Djokovic in 2020. Neither time was Thiem able to overcome his opponents as Nadal claimed his 11th and 12th Roland Garros titles in 2018 and 2019, and Djokovic secured his eighth Australian Open in 2020.
Thiem did eventually claim a maiden Slam crown at the 2020 US Open but has been hit by an unfortunate wrist injury which has kept him with little play since.
