Dominic Thiem is officially out of
Wimbledon due to an injury sustained at the Mallorca Championships.
Dominic Thiem injured his wrist in his 1st round match vs Adrien Mannarino and the Austrian was forced to retire from the match. After the match, he announced he would travel to Barcelona for follow up tests and today he posted an update on Twitter. In an official statement written in German and English Thiem, it was explained what happened.
To summarise Thiem will miss at least 5 weeks of action as he awaits the wrist to heal before he can return to training. The injury was described as a 'detachment of the posterior sheath of the ulnar side of the right wrist. It's a detachment of the wrist that needs to heal by wearing a wrist splint for at least 5 weeks. Only then he will be able to return to training.
Due to that Thiem will miss Wimbledon, Hamburg and Gstaad at least. We hope the recovery process goes smoothly and we can see Thiem back soon on the court. Read the full statement below.
