Dominic Thiem's nightmare season continues as he was forced to retire from the
Mallorca Championships due to a wrist injury.
The Australian was very happy upon arrival to Mallorca as he hoped to kick off his grass season the right way but an injury happened instead. Thiem was playing well early against Mannarino who can be a tricky player and he was up 5-2. Mannarino was serving and Thiem played a forehand after which he stopped play immediately.
He experienced pain in the wrist and called a trainer right away. After a lengthy consultation with the trainer, Thiem retired from the match sending Mannarino in the next round. It's not yet clear what really happened and we will have an update for you as it is available. Thiem's participation at Wimbledon is not in doubt.
