Dominic Thiem will play one final challenger on clay before making the move to grass which should happen in Halle and then after that Wimbledon of course.
It's been a very shaky year for Dominic Thiem who had some good moments but for the most part, once again played way before his level. He might be actually playing on his level right now, the realistic one but it's not the one we've gotten used to from him as he used to be a top 5 player for years.
Even a return on clay didn't look that great with an early exit in Paris even though he almost completed a crazy comeback against Pedro Cachin. Interestingly enough, Caching was the first player he played on his comeback from a wrist injury. That was a loss as well. It's not grass season for him yet as he will play one last challenger event in Peruggia.
The event posted a video of Thiem where he addressed the fans and talked about coming to the city to play the event after which he will be heading to the grass. In the video, Thiem expressed excitement about coming back and playing in front of Italian fans thanking the event for providing him with a wild card.
After that event, Thiem is set to appear in Halle where he'll take part in the strongest Halle event we've seen in years. That will be his only preparatory event for Wimbledon as grass was never one of his best surfaces. He doesn't really remember grass that well either because the wrist injury that completely derailed his career happened at a grass event as well.
It was in Mallorca two years ago and since then his career never looked the same. That's why we'll probably see him in Halle. I doubt he'd be excited about coming back to Mallorca.
