The main draw of the ATP 250 Hong Kong Tennis Open has been announced, set to take place from December 30 to January 5, marking the beginning of the 2025 ATP Tour season. The tournament features a strong field, including Andrey Rublev, Karen Khachanov, Lorenzo Musetti, and Arthur Fils among the top stars.
A total of 28 players will kick off their season in Hong Kong while preparing for their participation in the Australian Open in mid-January.
World No. 8 Andrey Rublev is the only top-10 player and will debut in the second round against the winner between Roman Safiulin (No. 60) and Fabian Marozsan (No. 58). The Russian hopes to recover from a disappointing end to the year after exiting the ATP Finals with three consecutive losses.
Lorenzo Musetti (No. 17), Arthur Fils (No. 20), and Karen Khachanov (No. 19) are also awaiting their second-round opponents. The Russian will face a notable opponent, with the winner between former top-10 players Denis Shapovalov (No. 56) and Kei Nishikori (No. 106) expected to be his challenger.
Some interesting matchups include Cameron Norrie (No. 49) against recent Next Gen ATP Finals runner-up Learner Tien (No. 126). The American seems poised for a breakout year on the tour in 2025 and will face a tough opponent in the former world No. 8 Brit.
Other highlights include the 6th seed Brandon Nakashima (No. 38) against Lorenzo Sonego (No. 53), 22-year-old young star Luciano Darderi (No. 53) facing Miomir Kecmanovic (No. 54), and a Spanish clash between Alejandro Davidovich Fokina (No. 61) and Jaume Munar (No. 62).
