We know the draw for the first indoor tournament after the clay-court part of the season as all of the players participating in the 2020 St. Petersburg Open from October 12th - 18th know their opponents.
After last year's ATP 250 tournament, the 2020 St. Petersburg Open is a ATP 500 tournament and so it's even more interesting for the players. The champion will go home with 500 points and a very nice cut of prize money representing around $200,000.
There will be a lot of players who will try to fight for the trophy, including the Russian trio Daniil Medvedev, Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov. The draw included also names like Stan Wawrinka, Denis Shapovalov and Milos Raonic.
As usually, the draw has brought a lot of interesting first-round matchups. The first-seeded Daniil Medvedev will take on Richard Gasquet in the first round. It won't be just a difficult first-round opponent for Medvedev as he can meet the winner of the match between Nino Serdarusic who replaced Jannik Sinner and Reilly Opelka in the second round.
No. 2 in St. Petersburg, Denis Shapovalov will need to battle past Sam Querrey in the first round while the third-seeded Andrey Rublev will play against Vasek Pospisil. Another Russian in the draw, the fourth-seeded Karen Khachanov will meet James Duckworth in his first-round match. The only Grand Slam champion in the draw, Stan Wawrinka will play against Dan Evans in the first round.
