The
draw has been confirmed ahead of the 2024
Stockholm Open which is due to take place between 14-20 October, 2024 in Sweden. Also known as BNP Paribas Nordic Open, it sees
Andrey Rublev as top seed.
An ATP 250, it will feature many names trying to force themselves into spots at the ATP Finals in Turin and so it will be very much an intriguing week. Rublev as top seed starts off against Leo Borg or Alexandre Muller in the second round. He sits in a tough quarter with Brandon Nakashima opening against Stan Wawrinka. The winner then likely faces Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.
Also they sit in the same section as Tommy Paul who is fourth seed and faces Pedro Martinez. Nicolas Jarry who has been in horrific form as of late sits just under and is fifth seed. He faces Elias Ymer while the winner faces Cameron Norrie who returned with a few wins this past week or Miomir Kecmanovic.
Luciano Darderi faces Matteo Berrettini, while
Grigor Dimitrov is also in action. He faces either Quentin Halys or Sumit Nagal. Tallon Griekspoor takes on Pavel Kotov then potentially Corentin Moutet. While second seed is
Casper Ruud, he likely faces Lorenzo Sonego in the second round. Kotov as priorly mentioned reached the final last year but Gael Monfils who won the title won't return.
It is a tournament with much prestige and history as it was first held in 1969 and has been a tournament won by six different Swedes. Thomas Johansson was the last home grown title winner in 2004. The ATP 250 event crops up earlier on the calendar this year moving three weeks prior to its usual slot.
Usually a season ender, there are a few tournaments left to go after this is played so it gets an earlier spot this season compared to usual.
