Big names
and thrilling matchups set for ATP 500 showdown
The action
will kick off on Monday with an exciting draw that promises great matches right
from the start. Tsitsipas will debut against the always tough Francisco
Cerundolo, who recently reached the semifinals at the Almaty Open this week.
His compatriot,
Tomas Martin Etcheverry, will also present a tough challenge
for sixth seed Ben Shelton, who remains in the race to break back into the top
20 before the season ends.
Ruud will
debut against
Roberto Bautista Agut, who is playing in the final of the
European Open this Sunday, so a last-minute withdrawal from the 36-year-old
player wouldn't be surprising. Fourth seed
Holger Rune will look to get back to
good results following his participation in the Six Kings Slam and will face
Chilean
Nicolas Jarry, who recently returned to winning ways after an
eight-match losing streak.
Other
standout matches include
Denis Shapovalov (wild card) against Chinese teenager
Shang Juncheng. Defending champion Auger-Aliassime will play against Argentine
Sebastian Baez, and Chilean Alejandro Tabilo will face former US Open champion
Marin Cilic.
