Dusan Lajovic upset de facto defending champion Andrey Rublev at the Srpska Open beating him in three sets 6-3 4-6 6-4.
The Serbian put together a really solid week in Bosnia to upset a few big names en route to the trophy. First, he defeated Novak Djokovic in the quarter-final and then he defeated compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic in the semi-final and now finally Andrey Rublev in the final. It was an interesting match but ultimately came down to Lajovic wanting to win a bit more.
Rublev hasn't been playing that well this week and he was okay in the final but simply wasn't as clean as he was the previous week in Monte-Carlo. He had a 40-0 advantage in the first game of this match but wasted it. Not long after that, he fell behind and never came back allowing Lajovic to escape with the first set 6-3.
The second set was played better by Rublev as he jumped out to an early 3-0 lead but he didn't hold it for too long. Eventually, Lajovic was able to come back but some heavy pressure from Rublev resulted in him taking the set 6-4 anyways. The final set was played very poorly by Rublev. Only after falling behind 5-1 did he start to play more aggressively and almost came back entirely but Lajovic held for the 6-4 finish.
