Jannik Sinner will return between 07-18 May 2025 as the ATP Entry List has now been confirmed for the 2025 Rome Open (Italian Open) also known as Internazionali BNL d'Italia which heralds the last main calling point ahead of Roland Garros.
Sinner has been out since winning the Australian Open in January. He accepted a retrospective ban from the sport due to the use of Clostebol which nearly saw him go to CAS which likely would've led to a lengthy ban.
As a result he missed the Middle East, Sunshine Double and now some of the main lead up to Roland Garros. But he will likely still be World Number One which is some miracle given the likelihood of Alexander Zverev taking over just last month.
Carlos Alcaraz too has seen his charge expunged while there have been a multitude of new winners. From Jack Draper to Jakub Mensik over the Sunshine Double to even Jenson Brooksby in Houston. Novak Djokovic also reached the final of Miami.
He is currently on the Entry List which perhaps is a surprise to some given he is playing Monte-Carlo and Madrid. The latter for the first time in some years.
He also was hit by a bottle infamously last year after he lost to Alejandro Tabilo so some mused that he wouldn't be back. Others involved include Casper Ruud who is the king of European Clay, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andrey Rublev and Taylor Fritz.
Zverev may have a point to prove but he did win the title last year defeating surprise finalist Nicolas Jarry so in reality he is better equipped but he will look to strike a cold Sinner on his home turf. An exciting tournament awaits.
