The Erste Bank Open continues on Thursday with a strong 6-match schedule of play that will see Thiem take on Garin.
It will be a glorious day of tennis on Thursday at the Erste Bank Open Vienna with several spectacular matches among the 6-match schedule of play. It will all start at 14:00 with Evans taking on Rodionov. Dan Evans has been playing very good tennis lately scoring several major victories. It won't be easy for him against Rodionov who comfortably defeated Shapovalov in the first round. Crowd support played a factor in that match and it might be the case as well. After them, we will see Hurkacz take on Sonego. The Italian is a solid player but the Pole is better on hard courts especially indoor one so he should have the edge. After that match, Daniil Medvedev will step onto the courts to take on Pospisil. The Canadian put on a serving clinic against Auger-Aliassime in the previous round so the Russian will have to work hard if he wants to win.
The second part of the day will start at 16:00 CET with Rublev taking on Sinner. A spectacular match between two players that enjoy being the aggressor on the court. The match should deliver spectacular rallies and plenty of winners between two players who will duel for many years to come. After them, the fan favourite Dominic Thiem will step out to take on Christian Garin. The Uruguayan prefers clay but he can hold his own on hard courts even against a top player which he demonstrated in the previous round by winning against Wawrinka.
Thiem had a bumpy ride in the previous round so he will enter this match very focused and prepared. He is the heavy favourite but Garin could prove a tough opponent. The match of the day is the match that will close out the stellar schedule. Stefanos Tsitipas will play against Grigor Dimitrov. It's a fascinating matchup between two players who share some similarities in that they both modelled their game after Roger Federer. It should be a spectacular affair and one that the Viennese crowd and many watching from afar will enjoy.
