Eugenie Bouchard didn't have a good outing in the
Rome Open qualifiers as she was beaten by Dalma Gafi in two straight sets 7-6(4) 6-3.
Bouchard has been attempting to play some consistent tennis on the European clay but it's not been going very well for her as she was beaten early in Madrid and now she won't even play in the main draw of the Rome Open. In the first round of the qualifiers, Bouchard played Galfi and she was beaten handily in two sets.
It was a competitive match between the players but Bouchard wasn't able to play to her best. She lost her serve early in the match but battled back to make it tied. We ended up in a tiebreak with Galfi outplaying Bouchard and taking it 7-4. Only a handful of points decided the decider but that was typical of a close match like this.
The second set opened a bit better for Bouchard as she had an early break point in the second set which could have made things interesting but Galfi was able to hold on. She then applied heavy pressure on her opponent and ultimately she was able to get the break she needed finishing it off 6-3.
