Eagle-eyed viewers will have spotted that the ball girls during the men's final at the 2023 Madrid Open were not wearing mini skirts and instead wore capris.
This is as the organizers seemingly were attempting to reverse the damage done by not only using models still during 2023 but also for the choice of attire.
Compared to the male ball kids during WTA games who wore simply the normal attire and saw Feliciano Lopez who was already engulfed under multiple storms add another to his list.
This after the tournament director came under direct criticism from Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek for the former's cake on her birthday and the latter due to 1 am finishes.
There was also the women's doubles fiasco which saw winners Victoria Azarenka/Beatriz Haddad-Maia and runners-up Coco Gauff/Jessica Pegula denied any speeches.

Madrid Open ball models aren't wearing mini skirts for Carlos Alcaraz vs. Jan-Lennard Struff Final Given the backlash after the cake & cutting women's doubles final speeches, this wardrobe change is aptly timed This is a start. But next year let's just bring back the ball kids
