It was a very good start and finish from
Novak Djokovic in his 6-1 4-6 6-0 win over Andrej Martin at the
Belgrade Open,
Djokovic started well, played a bad 2nd set and finished off extremely well against Andrej Martin at the Belgrade Open. By winning that match, Djokovic found himself in the Belgrade Open final something which he failed to do at the Serbia Open a month ago. That time around it was Aslan Karatsev who defeated Djokovic and moved to the final.
After the match, Djokovic said:
“I’m super excited to play in front of a Serbian crowd. This is my home town. I’m always excited, but also nervous, coming out on the court and playing in front of my home crowd."
Novak's brother, who is the tournament director, said yesterday that he did not want Djokovic to play at this event but rather to focus on Roland Garros instead. The major starts on Sunday and Djokovic will want to keep his energy expenditure to a minimum ahead of it.
Djokovic further added:
“It’s a very unique feeling. You feel a lot of pressure and expectations. But I’m just happy to fight for a trophy tomorrow. I thought I started and finished the match really well, so I’ll try to take those positive feelings into tomorrow’s final."
Djokovic will either face Delbonis or Molcan in the final and he will play for his 83rd career title.
