Novak Djokovic advanced to the
Belgrade Open semifinal with a crushing win over Coria 6-1 6-0 after which the Argentinian asked for a selfie.
It was a sensational display from Novak Djokovic against
Federico Coria whom he defeated 6-1 6-0 in the Belgrade Open quarterfinals. The match was a great one by Djokovic who said afterwards it was one of the best matches he played in all of 2021. After the match, Coria asked Djokovic for a selfie which is not that uncommon.
On the WTA Tour, Lisa Pigato asked Serena Williams for the selfie and she obliged. Djokovic was also more than happy to indulge the Argentine youngster and they took a photo where they both smiled.
That did not sit well with
Nick Kyrgios who did not miss the chance to voice his own opinion on the matter. Kyrgios commented on the short video posted by Tennis TV on Instagram:
"So you are taking a photo after he has literally burnt you off the court. Very very strange mentality to have. Joker one of the greats for sure, but cmon g losing a set 6-0 then asking for a photo? That ain’t it"
Kyrgios has been a vocal critic of many players over in past several years and Djokovic was the one he targeted the most. Some of those comments were warranted but others don't. It was a curious comment from Kyrgios whose own mentality hasn't been exemplary many times before.
