Serbia’s legendary tennis star
Novak Djokovic has denied
reports that he is planning to buy Manolo Santana's club. There has been
reports circulating in the media in the recent past suggesting that the
36-year-old has been in discussions with the wife of late Spanish tennis player
Manolo Santana to take over his club.
However, Djokovic, in a post on his official account on
social media platform X—previously known as Twitter—denied those reports and called
those rumours ‘fake news’.
The Belgrade-born is regarded as the greatest player in the
history of tennis in the men’s single category in the Open era, having won as
many as 24 Grand Slam titles. Djokovic had
a fabulous year at the highest level where he ended up winning three out
of four Grand Slam titles.
His only defeat in the major event in 2023 came in the final
at Wimbledon where he lost to Spain’s young tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz in
a five-set thriller with a score of 1–6, 7–6(8–6), 6–1, 3–6, 6–4.
Djokovic ended the season on a high as well as he lifted the
ATP Finals event in Turin after defeating Italy’s star tennis player Jannik
Sinner in the final with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
