Tennis fans on social media appreciated the gesture of
Russia’s Andrey Rublev who donated 100% income from Rublo sales to needy children.
The 26-year-old recently announced that he will be donating
100% of his income from Rublo sales to the children in need of financial
assistance.
"I just want to be honest and speak the truth,” he
said. “Everyone deserves a chance. All the income from the collection (100%)
will go to children in need. It’s not about business this time, because I’m not
gaining anything.
“I believe that people’s ego only brings bad things, and the
bigger the ego, the worse things happen.No matter how people treat you, even if
they treat you badly, the most important thing is to keep the light inside and
make your ego as small as possible."
That gesture touched the hearts of the fans on the social
media who appreciated by expressing gratitude towards the world number five. Rublev
had an impressive outing at the highest level in 2023 where won two ATP titles as
well.
His first title in the recently concluded season was Monte
Carlos Masters in April where he defeated Denmark’s Holger Rune in the final
with a score of 5-7, 6-2, 7-5. His second title came in Bastad where he
defeated Norway’s Casper Ruud in the final with a score of 7-6, 6-0.
