Ex-coach of Britain’s tennis star
Emma Raducanu has
expressed eagerness to work with four players in the future.
Dmitry Tursunov, who is a renowned coach in the world of
women’s singles tennis and worked with Britain’s young tennis sensation for
a couple of months in 2022, was recently quoted in a report where he expressed
his desire to work with four top players who are expected to win a Grand Slam
in 2024.
“This year I have identified four girls who, in my opinion,
could really win a Slam: Liudmila Samsonova,
Coco Gauff, Paula Badosa and Zheng
Qingwen. It would be cool to work with these players if we both want to,” he said.
Tursunov has also worked with the likes of Switzerland’s Belinda
Bencic and Russia’s Veronika Kudermetova in the recent past well.
Out of the four players Tursunov expressed his desire to work
with, Gauff is the most highly-rated one. The young American tennis sensation
had a great year at the highest level where she ended up winning her maiden
Grand Slam in 2023.
Gauff defeated the world number two Belarus’ Aryna Sabalenka
in the final of the US Open with a score of 2–6, 6–3, 6–2.
