Roger Federer defeated Novak Djokovic in the last group stage match at the 2019 ATP Finals in London to secure the spot in the semifinals.
Novak Djokovic was fighting with Rafael Nadal for place number one in the ATP Rankings. In order to be able to reach it, Djokovic needed to defeat Federer and reach semifinals. But the Swiss thought the opposite.
Federer started the match with an early break in the 3rd game and losing only 3 points on his service in 1st set, he had no problem keeping the lead. After 36 minutes, Roger won the first set 6-4.
In the second set, the Swiss remained the high-level he set in the first set as he broke Djokovic's service game twice and won also this set. After an hour and 14 minutes, Federer
joined Thiem in semifinals at the
ATP Finals in London.
