"Federer wins GOAT debate" says Richard Gasquet

The French veteran played some amazing matches against Federer with some of those going down in the history of tennis. The Frenchman was able to witness firsthand just how amazing peak Roger Federer was and most of the time Gasquet simply could not overcome him. That is why for Gasquet, Federer has always been and always will be the GOAT regardless of numbers.

To illustrate his point Gasquet, who is currently playing for France at the Davis Cup Finals, took an example from a different sport. He said:

"This is not about Grand Slam titles. Roger Federer is by far the best. It has no equal in history. He is Lionel Messi of tennis.”

Like Messi, Federer is widely considered as one of the most gracious players to ever play the sport of tennis and for Gasquet and it's a clear sign he is the GOAT. Gasquet believes numbers largely come down to several factors but the way a player plays and dominates the game of tennis signals just how great he is. In that regard for Gasquet, there has only ever been one and it's Roger Federer.
