It was a sensational performance by Hubert Hurkacz who easily defeated Roger Federer in the Wimbledon quarterfinals. The Polish player had a plan that worked to perfection and Federer had no answer. Roger even lost the final set with 0-6 which was the first bagel he suffered at Wimbledon ever.
Asked about the result, Eurosports analyst Mats Wilander said:
“He (Hurkacz) was just too good today. Federer is obviously not at his best at the moment. But Hurkacz just made him look ordinary for once; he is a really, really good tennis player."
And indeed it looked like Federer was some ordinary tennis player who got beaten by a better player easily. For Wilander, there is one underlying cause to it and he explained:
“The intimidation factor is starting to fade away with Federer, as it does for everyone – but more than anything, Hurkacz played an unbelievably solid game and he deserved to win. He handled the nerves extremely well.”
