Former Britain number one sees more major wins for Djokovic despite retirement rumors

Former Britain’s number one Tim Henman believes that Serbia’s legendary tennis star can win more Grand Slams after achieving yet another milestone in his career. The 37-year-old is already regarded as the greatest player in the history of men’s tennis in the Open era, having won as many as 24 Grand Slam titles in his illustrious career.

Djokovic recently participated in the Paris Olympics, where he won the gold medal for his country after beating Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz in the singles category final in straight sets with a score of 7-6, 7-6. With that win, the Belgrade-born star finally completed his trophy cabinet, and he was clearly emotional after achieving something he never did in his career.

With that triumph, there have been rumours about the possible retirement of Djokovic in the near future as he has finally achieved something that was missing from his trophy cabinet. The former world number one also admitted recently that he has found it hard to motivate himself for events other than Grand Slams and Olympics.

However, former British number one Henman was recently quoted in a report where he backed Djokovic to win more major events in the future. The 49-year-old was of the opinion that since the Serbian tennis star can now play without any pressure, he might become even more dangerous for his opponents in the near future.

“I just don’t think the way he works means he will think he has won the gold medal and that’s it,” he said while talking to Tennis365. “He still has an enormous passion for the game. He loves what he does and if anything, it might go the other way. Winning the Olympics might free him up. He might think he has ticked all the boxes and I am playing with the house’s money now. He might go out and feel no pressure as he looks to win another major at the US Open. That might be dangerous for the rest because he will play with freedom and while he is fit and healthy, I definitely think he has more major titles in him.”
