Former finalist Gael Monfils withdraws from Monte- Carlo Masters

Former Monte-Carlo Masters finalist Gael Monfils has withdrawn from the event due to a foot injury.

The French player traditionally plays really well at the event but fans won't be seeing him this year due to a foot problem. Monfils was set to play Hubert Hurkacz in a bombastic round 1 matchup but that match won't happen now and HUrkacz will face a lucky loser. Monfils announced the news on his official Twitter page writing:

"Hi all, sadly I have had to withdraw from Monte-Carlo following an issue with my foot. Doctors have advised me to rest before it gets more serious. I am planning to be back in time for Madrid! See you soon"

As he wrote, he plans to be back for the Madrid Masters which starts on April 22nd.
