Former player Jose Arilla is certain that
Rafael Nadal can win a grand slam at any time but it depends if he's healthy.
Rafael Nadal won 22 grand slams over his long career and the Spaniard is still playing at a high enough level to compete in the biggest tennis events. He won two this year and will certainly be in contention to win a couple more next year but it will all depend on how healthy he is.
That is according to former player Jose Luis Arilla who spoke to Marca about Nadal's career explaining that he can win a grand slam at any time:
"Nadal can win a Grand Slam at any time, but he has to arrive at the tournament in 100% physical condition. You have to plan the calendar with the necessary strength to be able to give your best. He has a very long career, with a lot of effort and injuries. If he plans well, he has the ability, talent and game to win a Grand Slam, preferably Roland Garros."
Arilla further commented that Nadal is almost like an alien because he's still dedicated to the game even if many would have walked away a long time ago:
"He is admirable, almost an alien. Right now, he has to do something more because of age. Never. I think that, as long as you feel competitive and have the luck to keep winning... What you like is playing tennis, there will be time to stop. Of course, if one is suffering more than necessary, there comes a time when you say you're leaving. But Rafael has not reached this situation."
