Frances Tiafoe wins a second career title, beating Tomas Etcheverry 7-6(1), 7-6(6) for the Houston trophy. First title in five years, first career title on clay.
After most of the week in Houston was washed out, Frances Tiafoe had to play four matches in two days at the Fayez Sarofim & Co. Men's Clay Court Championship.
But returned to the winners' circle with his second ATP title defeating Tomas Etcheverry 7-6, 7-6 in Sunday's final.
Not losing a set en route to the title, he only dropped serve once albeit nerves nearly got the better of him at 5-4 in the second set. But he managed to get through it and will now move up to World No.11 in the updated ATP Rankings.
