Although clay courts are not his forte,
Daniil Medvedev is eager to make the necessary adaptations to his tennis during that period of the year.
Throughout much of his career, the Russian tennis player has struggled on clay courts. Despite not favouring this type of surface, he has embraced the challenge and is motivated to do well because he believes he can succeed if he puts in the effort.
Monte Carlo will provide him with the first opportunity to try his skills on clay this year, and he is optimistic about bringing his recent success to the red dirt as well. However, he is aware that it will require some adjustments and is looking forward to the challenge.
He said:
"I definitely have to change my game because my strokes are too flat and clay does not let the ball go through the court as much. My opponents can use those [shots against me]. At the same time, you can’t change what you do in nine months or a year drastically, so I have to find a good balance where I still play my game, with a little change, with some shots in the right moment."
