Germany’s tennis star
Alexander Zverev expressed satisfaction
with his overall performances in 2023. The 26-year-old has had a turbulent year
with some off-the-field developments as well but ended the season on a bit of a
high after some impressive results.
In a post on his official account on the social media
platform Instagram, Zverev expressed satisfaction over his performances in
2023.
“What a year! From having uncertainties whether I would ever
come back to my level to finishing number 7 in the world, winning two @atptour
titles and making it to @nittoatpfinals. Thanks to everyone for the incredible
support and for believing in me,” he wrote.
Zverev ended his season in the
ATP Finals where he ended
up winning two out of the three matches in the group stage but failed to qualify
for the semifinal.
He defeated Spain’s young sensation and world number two Carlos
Alcaraz in the first group match with a score of 6-7, 6-3, 6-4. He then went on
to beat Russia’s Andrey Rublev in straight sets with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
His only defeat in the competition came against the current world
number three Daniil Medvedev who emerged victorious with a score of 7-6, 6-4.
