Richard Gasquet and Salvatore Caruso are through to the Sofia Open quarterfinal following victories on Wednesday.

Felix Auger-Aliassime recently played very well and even won his first ATP title in Paris. He was hoping that trend would continue in Sofia but he didn't play well at all against Caruso losing 6-4 6-4. It was a very physical match and quite long for a two setter but the Italian, known as a clay court specialist, prevailed against the Canadian. The first set was a close one with both players winning games easily at the start. Caruso found a way to carve out a break point which he converted to take the lead. He then served out the set 6-4. Auger didn't play poorly but Caruso just won very crucial points and served well enough to hold the lead. The 2nd set was a similar one where Auger had chances but failed to use them while Caruso used his chances. All of that was enough for the upset which left Auger-Aliassime visibly disappointed.
The final match of the day was played between Gasquet and Forejtek. The Czech player made news when he stunned Marin Cilic on Monday defeating him in straight sets. Gasquet didn't repeat the Croatian's mistake which is why he was careful early. Forejtek started a bit shaky and Gasquet took an early lead which he held to win the opening set 6-4. Jonas had two break points to try and tie it but Gasquet remained calm and saved them.
The 2nd set followed a similar pattern with Gasquet breaking Forejtek early to take a lead. He would hold the lead throughout the set and at 4-2 for him he would break Forejtek again and take a 5-2 lead. He then ended the match with a strong service game 6-2.
That match concluded another day at the Sofia Open but if you want to see the rest of the results head on over to our live score page.
