Stan Wawrinka raises his arms at the 2018 US Open.

Both Goffin and Wawrinka had to give it all in order to advance to the 3rd round of the Australian Open

David Goffin had to endure a 5-set thriller match against Herbert in order to advance to the 3rd round. The Belgian started off really well winning the first set with 6-1. The second set was a bit tougher but ultimately he managed to secure it with 6-4. After that, the Frenchman mounted a massive comeback. First, he battled Goffin and barely managed to win the 3rd set with 6-4.
It was an adrenaline rush that carried him to a stunning 6-1 4th set victory where he destroyed the Belgian. But it wasn't enough. Goffin reclaimed some of the magic from the 1st set and calmly marched to a 6-3 victory over Herbert. It was an impressive showing from the Belgian albeit a very energy-consuming one.
Stan Wawrinka needed to pull out all his trick in order to advance past Seppi. The Italian was always a tricky opponent especially on slams where he nearly upset some of the all-time greats. It was a jojo of a match as neither player managed to win any substantial advantage over the other.
Andreas won the 1st set 6-4 but Wawrinka came back to win the 2nd 7-5. Then Wawrinka won the 3rd 6-3 but Andreas fought back to win the 4th win 6-3. The final set was a fascinating one. At 3-3 Seppi broke Wawrinka's serve and it seemed as if the Italian will win it. But he didn't, chiefly because Wawrinka went on a rampage stringing 3 games in a row and securing a 6-4 victory in dramatic fashion.
