David Goffin has begun his campaign at the Open Sud de France in Montpellier with a brilliant victory over Alexander Bublik.

It was a hard fought one at that, he ended up winning 6-3, 7-6 with the last set going to an 11-9 tiebreak.
Bublik played his part but missed his chance in the final set missing 3 set points on serve in the 2nd set tiebreak. He couldn't cope initially with Goffin's return on two of the set points and Bublik went for an underarm serve which was dispatched by the Belgian brilliantly.
Bublik then hit a double fault and went on to lose the tiebreak 11-9 hence essentially handing Goffin the tie in the latter stages.
The second seed will be one of the favourites for the title and will be glad to get past a player known for being unpredictable and hard to play; while also showing some flawes like what was shown here.
