Goran Ivanisevic set to officially join forces with Stefanos Tsitsipas after Roland Garros disappointment

As was mooted previously, Goran Ivanisevic will reportedly join up with Stefanos Tsitsipas as his new coach on the run-up to Wimbledon.

SDNA confirmed after Tsitsipas suffered a shock loss to Matteo Gigante 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, 6-4 in favour of the Italian yesterday that he has made the choice to hire the Croat as he continues to slide out of the top 25 and down the rankings trap door.

The top Greek star will start working with the 53-year-old next week with his eyes firmly set on Wimbledon. The Grand Slam that was won by Ivanisevic. He was previously coach of Novak Djokovic but that came to an end last year.

He was pretty sought after but chose Elena Rybakina which proved to be the wrong decision as the Kazakh on the surface only hired him but then she brought back Stefano Vukov, the now banned controversial coach of Rybakina.

As she stated earlier today, they still practice together in between tournaments so he is still her coach despite not being officially. But he left the setup after this was brought to light.

He interestingly as per the same report won't have the same issue with Tsitsipas despite the undercurrent of his father Apostolos being a constant presence over the years. But he will be Tsitsipas' sole coach as they look to arrest his slide.

The collaboration has no duration and will initially be a trial likely to allow in case of any issues or if they don't gel. But after it was rumoured last month, it seems the reports were correct. Also a first date has been set, he will be in Tsitsipas's box at Halle between 16-22 June, 2025.

That is his first tournament prior to Wimbledon so anything before that will be training and fine tuning ahead of that date.
